(Still from "by Brakhage: an Anthology" Criterion DVD collection.) For the first time, sat and soaked in Stan Brakhage films in the quiet of my own surrender. Aknowledging the grand master of Avante Garde filmmaking, Stan is quite to pellet of rolling thunder. What I find most interesting is his use of uncomfortable cuts and repetitive splicing. Within a film, a sigle segment can be seen not once or twice but three or four times upside down, backwards and sideways.
