In a few hours I'll be sitting beside Sarah watching Ani DiFranco onstage. It's been four years since I've been to a concert. Any concert. So this is a very exciting day for me, to say the least. The fact that Ani is pulling in $35/ ticket is not lost on this DIY chimp. I laugh because I still pull out my wallet, pathetic as life is, and type in my cc numbers. Apparently what was unacceptable in her 20's is reality in her 40's. We all have seen this in one form or another. Good intentions and romantic ideals washed down the drain with age.
Thank God for sudden friendships like Melo and Taylor. Although I still find little attraction to them, I also can appreciate what they've done for my family. After Gunshots rattled windows and blew holes into my home - Sarah and the kiddos refused to sleep there. Now after three nights in a cramped college dorm-style apartment, they warmed up to the idea of sleeping in their own beds. Which makes me feel a bit more comfortable with the idea of putting our house up for sale.
