Soul-Junk:
Glen Galloway, of seminal indie noise band Truman's Water of San Diego, AKA Glen Galaxy, also records as Soul-Junk and celebrates his love for Jesus Christ by referencing lyrics directly from the Bible. The ever shifting Soul-Junk sound is rooted in free jazz and noise using guitars, drums, sing-songs and rap-styles all growing from the avant-garde, indie rock biosphere that is Soul-Junk. When I saw Soul-Junk in 2001, it was an otherworldly experience of white boy-break dancing in a punk bar called Bernies Distillery in Columbus Ohio. The same bar I snuck into as a 16 year old faux-punk - convinced that it was heaven on earth. What little it took to impress me then.
