ALMA, Makino short screens and wins

Although this excerpt is a bit old (published July-07), the short film I worked on as on-set photographer, has been actively screening and attention-getting across the country.

This is an excerpt from the Tucson Film Office site:

--"Locally Filmed Alma Continues To Win

Local director Yuri Makino won the Best Director Award at the Reel Sisters Film Festival for her short film Alma. The film, directed by Makino and executive produced by Victoria Westover and Brian McLaughlin, also took home an Award of Excellence in the Independent Short film category from the 2007 Accolade Competition. Alma recently won Best Narrative Film at the annual University Film and Video Association Conference Faculty Juried Screenings. Alma was filmed in Tucson last July with a crew comprised of industry professionals, UA Media Arts faculty, alumni and students, as well as students from Pima Community College. Alma premiered in April at the Humboldt Film Festival where it won The Ledo Matteoli Award for Best Immigrant Story. Click here to read more about Ms. Makino and her short film."--
